Here in Australia we love our split systems. They’re convenient, easy to install and can handle even the hottest summer days. Chances are you’re sitting near one right now, whether that’s at home, in the office, or at a cafe. It will always feel like you’re near the best split system on a hot day.

But what happens when the time comes for an upgrade. How do you know what to get? And if it’s an emergency breakdown, do you just go for a like-for-like replacement or switch to another big name brand?

Our quickfire split systems guide will help you out. Jim’s Air Conditioning has taken a look at six leading air conditioning brands to determine their strengths and quality. You can then make an informed decision on the best split system brand in Australia.

Samsung

Synonymous with quality and innovative technology, Samsung is at the forefront of most major appliance industries. The various split system ranges have something different to offer, with multiple price points and features suitable for anyone.

Their split system range includes the Bedarra, GEO (including GEO WindFreeTM and GEO+) and Wind-FreeTM models. Each one has something different to love, which is a wonderful bonus for anyone shopping for a new air con.

Heating and Cooling Capacity

From the Bedarra to the GEO Series, all Samsung air conditioner splits start with a baseline 2.5kW option. The reverse cycle option also delivers a minimum 3.2kW output, a standard starting point across most big name brands. Samsung’s largest system is their 8kW.

Best Rated Systems

Samsung’s smaller models are among the best on the market, with their smallest AR9500 WindFreeTM holding a 6-star rating. You will also find several 4-4.5 star ratings in the larger models, proof that quality does not drop off.

The GEO+ range has a Tri-Care Filter providing three layers of air filtration. A Zeolite Coating Filter captures even the smallest dust particles. It’s added protection against allergens, bacteria and even viruses.

Quiet performance and energy efficient output is combined via a Digital Inverter Boost. Samsung’s technology reduces fluctuation, delivering consistent cooling and quiet motor operation.

Perfect For

Anyone. With a range of sizes on the market, there’s a Samsung split system for any room. Advanced features found in the WindFreeTM range are an added bonus for those who dislike the feeling of an air conditioner, and would rather something that operates more like a gentle ducted reverse cycle air conditioner.

Fujitsu

Fujitsu delivers a range of split systems, including cool-only and reverse cycle heating and cooling. With a focus on healthy air quality, quiet performance and minimal power consumption, Fujitsu split systems are a great choice for small-to-medium sized homes.
